Everyone is aware of the recent Covid surge we have experienced here in Indiana. Shelby County has been no exception. Our cases of hospitalized Covid patients have increased significantly in the last 30 days. We are at capacity and our staff has been stretched to their limits. The Indianapolis Hospitals are also at capacity. We will continue to care for every patient who presents to our door, however, there are some actions you can do to help MHP ensure everyone in our Community receives the quality of care they deserve. The most important action you can take is to become vaccinated against Covid. There is no more effective tool in preventing the spread of symptomatic Covid illness. The vaccine has been given approximately 2 billion times around the world and has been shown to be safe and effective. Every major public health organization, every major medical scientific organization, and every major medical university has recommended vaccination against Covid. Over 96% of Physicians nationwide have received the vaccine. Choosing to receive the vaccine is the best step you can take in protecting yourself, your family, your friends, and our Community. It is the best action you can take in helping to keep businesses open and to maintain a prosperous economic environment for Shelby County. Vaccination is the most effective action you can take in helping to keep our schools open. And it is the most important action step you can take in helping MHP maintain high quality medical services to our Community. In order to help everyone in our Community, please practice social distancing, wear your masks when indoors in congregated areas, and get yourself and your eligible family members vaccinated. The Central Indiana health care system including MHP and the surrounding Indianapolis Hospitals are at the breaking point. We need your help.
