(March 4, 2021) Shelbyville, IN --- On Wednesday, March 3, Major Health Partners (MHP) and US Renal Care began administering COVID-19 vaccines to our adult dialysis patients. The vaccine was administered to patients in the facility while they received their dialysis kidney treatment. By allowing patients to become fully vaccinated in the treatment area it lowers their chances of becoming exposed and possibly requiring hospitalization. MHP and US Renal Care are grateful for the opportunity to vaccinate those who have not been vaccinated yet or previously were not eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
In addition to the state’s age-based rollout, which now includes ages 50 and up, they also expanded eligibility to include people with any of 5 medical conditions. These conditions include down syndrome, sickle cell disease, post-solid organ transplants, patients on dialysis and also those actively in treatment for cancer or who have active lymphoma, leukemia or multiple myeloma.
Appointments can be scheduled on the state’s website at www.ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211. Patients need to bring a photo ID with their date of birth and their insurance card (if they have one). While the COVID-19 vaccine is free to everyone, providing your insurance information allows the State to bill insurance companies or Medicare an administrative fee.
