Mental health and stress both play a major role in our overall health and wellbeing. Stress can have negative effects on many aspects of our lives. In nutrition counseling, we come across patients that eat for comfort, while some, including myself, don't eat at all when stressed.

According to studies, 1 in 5 adults has a mental health condition. If you feel like you're struggling with stress management, depression, anxiety, etc., I strongly encourage you to reach out for help. Talk to someone. Talk to a family member, friend, coworker, health professional - anyone.

We have several resources available here within MHP to help you. Please talk with your primary care provider about any struggles you are experiencing with your mental health or stress. MHP Psychology can also be reached by calling 317.392.2971. They offer a crisis clinic with walk-in hours from Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. for anyone in need of urgent help.

If you experience a crisis that falls outside of our crisis clinic hours, I encourage you to contact the following crisis lines, call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Room:

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1.800.273.TALK
St. Vincent Stress Center: 317.338.4800
