MHP’s Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), in partnership with Shelby Senior Services, wants to make sure you have what you need to care for your loved one. No matter where you are in your journey of family caregiving, AARP’s Prepare to Care — a 5-week information session designed specifically for caregivers—is for you.
- Would you know what to do if you suddenly had to begin caring for a spouse or parent?
- Would you know the names of all your loved one’s doctors, not to mention the medication (s)he is taking?
- Would you know the location of all important documents such as wills, advance directives, and final wishes?
- Would you know who to call for help?
These family planning sessions provide practical tools including information, resources, and checklists to help you get organized and find the support you may need. Are you just beginning to anticipate a need? Are you helping your loved one downsize or change residences? Or perhaps you are already taking care of a family member full-time? In whatever stage you find yourself, having a solid framework to guide you and your loved ones will make the process easier.
Prepare to Care begins in January 2019. All sessions are FREE and held at the MHP Medical Center, but you must register. You can plan to attend one or all sessions. Simply contact Ralanda Smallfelt at (317) 398-0127 or rsmallfelt@shelbyseniorservices.org to reserve your spot.
