SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) - It's ten years in the making. The Major Health Partners Medical Center opens in Shelbyville on Sunday, January 22.

Media was given a tour of the new building on Saturday. The facility uses the latest technology to make sure patients get the best care possible. That includes a new monitoring system for patients and smart devices for nurses and technicians.

"This gives us 24 hour capability to watch and monitor the patient," said Karen Burton, the Inpatient Care Unit Director. "This helps us catch things early and make sure we are giving the right treatment and right medication for our patients."

The new hospital will also be one of the first in the state to offer molecular mammograms.
