Go Red Funraiser was a Sell Out

Is shopping good for the heart? It was for the roughly 120 participants at the “MHP Goes Red for Women’s Heart Health.”

The 10th annual fundraising luncheon for the Major Hospital Foundation was a sell out as supporters browsed among the many tables set up by vendors Saturday at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino in Shelbyville. 

“All the money that we bring in goes back to the foundation,” said Christy Neisler, cardiac services line director for Major Health Partners.

She didn’t have a dollar amount yet, but said the luncheon last year raised $2,800...

Sharon Hammond, RNC – OB (Registered Nurse, Certified in Inpatient Obstetrics), is excited to bring this program to the families of Shelby and surrounding counties, “In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), we must encourage pregnant smoking women to consider a quit attempt. Major Hospital Auction
The public auction for items of the closed downtown Major Hospital facility will be Friday, April 21st at 10 am. The inspection will be Thursday, April 20th from 9 am - 4 pm. The auction will be located at 150 W. Washington St, Shelbyville, IN 46176. Items included are hospital equipment, furniture, kitchen equipment and industrial take-outs. Bidding will take place onsite or online at

New Hospital Opens in Shelbyville, Patients Moved 'Safely' To New Building

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WIBC) – For those living in Shelby County, it may take some time to get accustomed to driving to the new hospital facility since the old hospital building that just closed 3.3 miles away in downtown Shelbyville had been at same location for more than 90 years.
The Major Health Partners (MHP) Medical Center opened at 3 a.m. Sunday on the north side of Shelbyville at 2451 Intelliplex Drive, which is just north of I-74 Exit 113 at State Road 9. 
The new building has replaced the existing Major Hospital facility at 150 W. Washington Street, which first opened in April 1924.

New Shelbyville hospital close to opening

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) - It's ten years in the making. The Major Health Partners Medical Center opens in Shelbyville on Sunday, January 22.

Media was given a tour of the new building on Saturday. The facility uses the latest technology to make sure patients get the best care possible. That includes a new monitoring system for patients and smart devices for nurses and technicianss.

"This gives us 24 hour capability to watch and monitor the patient," said Karen Burton, the Inpatient Care Unit Director. "This helps us catch things early and make sure we are giving the right treatment and right medication for our patients."

The new hospital will also be one of the first in the state to offer molecular mammograms.

Becker's Hospital Review Names 100 Great Community Hospitals for 2016

Shelbyville, IN - Major Hospital is pleased to announce that it has been chosen as a Top 100 Hospital in America by Becker's Hospital Review. Becker's has published a version of this list annually since 2011. This is the fifth year the list has included 100 hospitals. For the purpose of this list, Becker's defines a "community hospital" as one with fewer than 550 beds. The hospitals are spread across the country, some not far from major metro areas and some in rural communities.

According to Lt. Mike Turner, SPD responded to a burglary at the construction site on Nov. 27. New Major Hospital focused on patient safety, convenience

Everything about the third floor of the new Major Hospital is centered on patient safety and convenience, from the patient rooms to the spa center. According to Jeff Williams, vice president of facility operations with Major Hospital, each of the 40 inpatient units on the third floor follow what is called a same-handed design, meaning that each of the rooms will be nearly identical when finished. Click here for more information.
