JOHN M. HORNER |  President & Chief Executive Officer
John “Jack” Horner has been employed by Major Hospital since 1985 serving as the President and Chief Executive Officer since 2008.  Under his leadership Major Hospital has achieved distinction by being recognized as a Top 100 Hospital in America by Thompson-Reuters and Truven Health Analytics in 2008, 2009, 2012, and 2013.  From 1999-2008 Mr. Horner served as Vice President of Major Hospital and also served as President of three companies within our enterprise:  MedWorks, LLC, Intelliplex Data Solutions, LLC, and OpenMed Midwest, LLC. 
During his tenure as Vice President, Major Hospital was awarded the Top 100 Most Wired Hospitals in America award by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine for three years.  From 1996-1999 Mr. Horner served as Chief Information Officer.  Previous roles include Director of Ancillary Clinical Operations and Manager of Hospital Pharmacy.  Mr. Horner served as Store Manager of Hooks Drug Company prior to his employment with Major Hospital.  Mr. Horner is a 1981 graduate of The Purdue University School of Pharmacy.  Mr. Horner is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and currently serves as Central District President, Indiana Healthcare Association, 2014-2015.  Mr. Horner is a Shelbyville native and is active in numerous community activities.  
LINDA WESSIC |  Vice President and Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer
Linda Wessic was employed by Major Hospital August, 1981 and has served in her current role since 2012.  Ms. Wessic served 1996-2012 as the Vice President of Nursing Services and 1995-1996 was Manager of Medical-Surgical and ICU.  From 1994-1995 Ms. Wessic served as the Patient Care Coordinator of Medical Surgical and ICU.  From 1986-1994 Ms. Wessic served in various nursing roles as Staff Nurse and Nursing Manager at St. Francis Hospital.  1981-1986 Ms. Wessic was Staff Nurse, then Manager of the ICU at Major Hospital.  Ms. Wessic was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Evansville in 1981 and a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1994.  Ms. Wessic is a Board Certified Nurse Executive with the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is certified in Executive Nursing Practice by the American Organization of Nurse Executives.  Ms. Wessic has professional memberships with the American Organization of Nurse Executives, Indiana Organization of Nurse Executives where she also serves as a Board Member for Central Indiana, VHA Chief Nursing Executive Peer Group, American Nurses Association and Indiana State Nurses Association, and she also serves on the Indiana University Columbus School of Nursing Advisory Council.  Community Involvement includes participation in various community health fairs, resource person for Blue River Vocation School Health Careers Program, and past service to Girls Inc. as a Board Member.
RALPH N. MERCURI |  Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Ralph Mercuri has been Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since 2008.  Mr. Mercuri is responsible for the day to day financial operations as well as the planning, organization and management of all financial activities of MHP.   Mr. Mercuri was awarded a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Dayton in 1980, a Bachelor of Science (Magna Cum Laude), degree in Accounting from University of Dayton in 1978, and an Associate of Arts, (Applied Science with Honors) degree from Sinclair Community College in 1973.  Mr. Mercuri qualified as a Certified Public Accountant in Indiana in 1992 and in Ohio in 1981.  Mr. Mercuri is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and an Advanced Member of the Hospital Financial Management Association. He has also been very active in various community leadership positions in the past.  His community leadership includes service as a Board Member of:  Major Hospital Foundation,  United Way, VHA Risk Retention Group, Rauch, Inc., Community Housing Development Organization, Southern Indiana Medical Network, Floyd County Ambulance Service, St. Elizabeth Employees Federal Credit Union, and Treasurer of:  Family Health Center, Southern Indiana Medical Network, Greater Dayton Area MRI Associates and Community Blood Center, and a Member of:  Southern Indiana Leadership and Kiwanis Club of New Albany.
DR. DOUGLAS S. CARTER |  Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Douglas Carter has been Vice President & Chief Medical Officer since 2012 and a member of the Major Hospital’s Board of Directors since January 1993, serving as Board Secretary since 1999.  Dr. Carter started his Shelbyville practice and became a member of Major Hospital’s medical staff in 1980, providing primary care internal medicine services until 2007.  Since 2007 Dr. Carter has practiced as a full-time Hospitalist and served as Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program at Major Hospital.  Dr. Carter received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from Indiana University in 1977 and completed his internship and internal medicine residency at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980.  Dr. Carter is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.  Over his career, Dr. Carter has served on the following boards and/or committees:  Chairperson of the Patient Services & Planning Committee; Indiana Live Casino, Medical Director 2010-Present; Ashford Place, Long Term Care, Medical Director 2005-Present; Heritage Manor, Long Term Care, Medical Director 1982-1992; Member of Major Hospital’s Medical Executive Staff Committee as: Chief of Medicine 1986, 1987, 1990, 1993 & 1994; Vice Chief of Staff 1992; Secretary 1989 & 1988.  Professional Social Memberships include Indiana State Medical Association, Shelby County Medical Society, and American College of Physicians.

RYAN J. CLAXTON, J.D. |  Vice President of Business Development and Strategy
Ryan Claxton has been with Major Health Partners since October 2007.  Mr. Claxton is responsible for management, oversight and development of multiple affiliated entities and services including MHP’s outpatient physician practices, multiple on-site/employer-based clinics, a combined urgent care/occupational clinic, health benefit plan administration and contractual relations, physician office electronic medical record functions, and risk management.  Mr. Claxton acts as the liaison to local employers for health care and related services. 
Mr. Claxton was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wabash College in 2001 and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University School of Law in May, 2004.  Mr. Claxton has served on Shelby County Council since elected in 2012 and currently serves as its Vice President.  Other community activities include service to Major Hospital Foundation, Man of the Year Candidate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Secretary of Shelby County Development Corporation Board of Directors, Board of Directors for Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, Secretary for J. Kenneth Self Shelbyville Boy’s Club Board of Directors, President of the Shelby County United Fund Board of Directors, and former Vice President of Girls, Inc. Board of Directors.
JEFF WILLIAMS |  Vice President of Facility Operations
Jeff Williams has served as the Vice President of Facility Operations of Major Health Partners since January, 2009.  Mr. Williams is responsible for all facilities and engineering, building projects, safety, security, real estate, grounds, food services and environmental services.  Mr. Williams also assists with management and leadership development processes and programs, internal consulting in business development and human resources matters and is a member of the hospital’s benefits committee.  Mr. Williams also serves as the Safety Officer and Bio-Terrorism Coordinator.  From May, 2007-January 2009 Mr. Williams was employed as Director of Human Resources at Ryobi Die Casting (USA) and  from August 2006-May 2007 he served as Vice President of Human Resources at Muncie Power Products. 
Mr. Williams began his career with Major Hospital July 1997-August 2006 as Vice President of Human Resources, Engineering and Business Development and served as the Executive Director of Envision Health Services, LLC, an affiliate organization.  During this period of time managed and delivered over 25 million dollars in construction projects including both new facility construction and numerous renovation and expansion projects, with a track record of being on-time and on budget without exception.   Previously, Mr. Williams gained experience 1984-1997 as the manager, director, or superintendent of personnel in various capacities at four Indiana factories.  In April 2002, Mr. Williams retired as an Operations Officer in the United States Army Reserve.  Mr. Williams was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Ball State University in 1983.  Community activities include Morristown Indiana Chamber of Commerce Past President, over 20 years service to Indiana Workforce Development System where he was appointed by Governor Daniels to the Indiana Joint Workforce Investment Board, Central Indiana Regional Workforce Board past Chairman, Circle Seven Work Force Investment Board past Chairman, over 15 years services as a Volunteer Fire Fighter, Rescue Captain, Assistant Chief, and Chief.
